Job Description
Duties include (but are not limited to):
The 1st Electrical Engineer, as member of Electro-Technical Department, is responsible together with assigned subordinates, for the safe, reliable and economical operation and maintenance of all assigned electrical and electronic equipment on board, including communication and navigation systems and selected OT systems. Cooperates on daily operational issues and closely communicates with the Chief Electrical Engineer on important matters and planned maintenance. He/she is in charge for coaching assigned staff regarding normal and emergency operation, planned and occasional maintenance of assigned equipment and plants. Cooperates with Engine and Hotel Department if advised. Reports to Chief Electrical Engineer for assigned work activities.; By solely decision of Chief Engineer, the 1st Electrical Engineer replaces the Chief Electrical Engineer if same is not able to perform his/her duties and responsibilities by some reason.; Attends in Engine Control Room or engine spaces during manoeuvring in confined waters and approaches, according to Engine Resource Management (ERM) standard, to ensure safe operation. Follows the Chief Engineer instructions in emergency situations with electrical Equipment.; Responsible for the electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and occasional repairs of assigned electrical equipment:Power generation and distribution systems (high/low voltage), UPS and battery Systems; Electrical Propulsion Systems, thrusters, maneuvering and steering equipment; Auxiliary Electrical machinery and equipment for ship’s operation, electrical motors; Engine and Nautical Automation- and Network systems; Electrical Safety and Security systems; Navigation and Communication Equipment; Supports the subordinates in maintenance and repairs of various Electrical and Hotel Equipment – i.e Galley, Laundry, AC, Refrigeration, Entertainment, Elevators etc.;
; Management and operational duties:Observes and monitors the Safety, Quality and Environmental regulations (HESS); Manages and handles related ISM and other relevant quality systems; Participates and conduct training activities within the electro-technical department;
; Carry out safety and redundancy tests in his/her area of responsibility and issue test reports. Carry out maintenance duties assigned to his/her position in the Planned Maintenance System (PMS), updates maintenance data records.; Accountable for stock levels of spare parts and materials in electrical storerooms and availability of the strategic & critical spare parts managed by himself/herself. Supervise periodical stock inventory. Plans, evaluates and supervise assigned dry docks and repair/service activities by external contractors.; Supports an effective and sustainable health and safety culture and environment on board, follows strictly HESS regulations and any Health and Safety Protocols in force to prevent the spread of diseases on board, reports to the Head of Department any observed violations of the Company's health procedures;
