Job Description

Columbus Motor Company is seeking a Body Shop Manager. This position oversees all activities of the Body Shop and is responsible for ensuring that Quality repairs meet or exceed the original factory fit and finish. The manager is responsible for scheduling and supervision of all body technicians, maintaining the budget expectations and for reporting financial and production goals. Typical Hours and Days The Body Shop is open Monday – Friday 7:30am to 7pm and Saturday 8am-5pm. The Body Shop Manager is responsible for scheduling and can expect to work whatever it takes to ensure the department is staffed with a minimum of two employees present at all times for safety reasons. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct, schedule and supervise all work in the Body Shop.
  • Responsible for ensuring all Safety Rules are strictly followed.
  • Ensuring that Techs Keep area safe and Clean
  • Review the daily paint list with the Paint Technician
  • Ensure that production flow is maintained by appropriately scheduling and utilizing personnel.
  • Ensure all formulations, preparations, top coating and curing meet OEM recommended standards for proper application sequence, timing and materials usage.
  • Hold team accountable to a 100% quality rate ( 0% come backs)
  • Work with team members to achieve target delivery dates
  • Review each repair order, work order, and Estimator’s notes to understand repairs needed prior to beginning work on the vehicle.
  • Ensure that all repairs must be completed according to the documentation on the repair order or the supplement
  • Knowledge of manufacturer’s repair process
  • Ensure that all employees record accurate clock time worked by using the time clock. Document and flag labor time on each work order as it is completed
  • Review work order and initial all completed repair items.
  • Perform and sign-off on all quality check before sending vehicle to paint department
  • Maintain a copy of the work order in the vehicle at all times
  • Perform a final quality check and review of work order prior to sending the vehicle to the detail department
  • Prepares reports to managers
  • May be asked to travel for training
  • All other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities: * The Body Shop Manager is responsible for directing and scheduling the activities of all Parts Body Shop employees. Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:
  • AA Degree or Certification from Trade School or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years experience as an Automotive Body Technician
  • One year supervisory experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and read and understand computers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Valid Driver's License, acceptable driving record and at least 18 years of age required to drive company or customer vehicles.
  • ASE Certification
