Responsibilities

The Biomedical Security Engineer is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the security posture of Medisys Health Network’s medical devices, networks, and information; ensuring that data, devices and systems are secure, resilient and compliant. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to patient safety. You will leverage the latest technologies and testing methodologies to ensure robust security measures are implemented throughout the medical device lifecycle.

  • Design, develop, configure, and implement solutions to resolve technical and business issues (low to medium complexity) related to medical device security.
  • Responsible for Security patches on all biomedical devices.
  • Communicate directly with vendors on all medical device security matters, including coordinating meetings and onsite visits.
  • Successfully integrate medical device security updates for all biomedical equipment.
  • Maintain and potentially design/develop tools or systems to improve security or business processes.
  • Test configurations and deploy risk mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and document detailed guidance for system configuration and risk mitigation.
  • Detect and identify vulnerabilities in devices or systems.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and complete backups.
  • Resolve technical challenges and provide support to field technicians.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and effectively to team members and other departments.
  • Track and report project status through completion

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or Bioengineer, Technology, Business discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in a healthcare/medical environment, as a Biomedical Engineer
  • Experience working with specialized medical equipment in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with HIPAA/HITECH compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of information networking principles and best practices as it relates to medical devices.
  • Ability to estimate, plan, schedule, organize, coordinate, and execute activities.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and priorities.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, develop effective solutions and solve problems.
  • Requires ability to apply broad business knowledge and practical experience to the analysis / solution generation process.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to management, team members, and business and technology professionals.
  • Strong coaching, mentoring, training, facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Appetite for continuous learning of new skills that add value to projects and assignments.
  • Ability to deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Requires ability to develop good working relationships with business sponsors, business partners and technical staff.
  • Requires a high level of expertise in a variety of systems and business areas.
  • Requires continuous learning of new skills that add value to projects and assignments.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with the software development life cycle or project management methodologies
  • One or more relevant technical/professional security certifications

This is a full time position with work location in Jamaica, NY. Work schedule is hybrid after 90 days from start date.

Salary range: $90,000 - $125,000 annually
