Job Description

Are you passionate about hands-on technical work and leading onsite commissioning activities? In this role, you will be responsible for executing and overseeing all on-site commissioning efforts for assigned small to mid-size sites or sub-projects. You’ll ensure deliverables are met safely, on time, and in line with ABB’s quality and compliance standards.

This role requires travel to customer sites approximately 80% of the time , where you will serve as the technical lead for commissioning activities, task allocation, and on-site coordination. Your expertise will ensure smooth integration of systems, customer satisfaction, and successful project closeout.

This position is part of ABB’s Process Automation Energy Industries division.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Leading the commissioning, start-up, and functional testing of systems and equipment at customer sites, ensuring proper operation and integration.
  • Taking over the assigned site area from the customer or Site/Project Manager and handing it back upon project completion.
  • Applying basic scheduling techniques to track progress and proactively manage risks to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Continuously monitoring, documenting, and reporting on-site activity progress and milestones.
  • Closing all punch list items, completing as-built documentation, managing material reconciliation, and supporting site demobilization.
  • Serving as the primary technical point of contact on-site, facilitating clear communication between the customer and internal teams.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; experience in Power Generation or Electronics is a plus.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in field service or commissioning, ideally working with power electronics and industrial automation systems.
  • Strong technical background in commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial equipment.
  • Proficient with software tools and understanding of control systems and cybersecurity compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% across Canada and the United States.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
