Job Description

Our client, a contemporary fashion brand, is hiring for a Designer/ Associate Designer to join the team in New York! This is a temporary contract role with the potential to become permanent.

Pay is DOE, the brand is open to associate level candidates.

Responsibilities:

• Creates CAD/ hand sketches and product prototypes throughout the conceptual design process
• Update sketches and line sheets after quality and fit sessions
• Partners with Director to develop and refine seasonal concept, materials, and palette
• Ability to come up with new innovative silhouettes, patterns, shapes, etc.
• Responsible for upholding design integrity, high quality execution, and timeliness throughout the entire development process from concept through engineering and commercialization
• Partners cross-functionally with Merchandising and Product Development on regular basis
• Participates in fittings and meetings with cross-functional category partners
• Ability to work independently and on multiple seasons at one time
• Adhere to seasonal and time and action calendars, ensuring that the category meets deadlines

Experience Needed:

• Degree in Fashion Design or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 3-4 years of design experience
• Must provide digital portfolio of work
• Strong taste level, research skills, ability to identify silhouettes, pattern, and color
• Strong hand sketching skills in addition to sketching technical drawings on Illustrator
• Strong working knowledge of PLM, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience developing product directly with factories; understanding of development from concept through engineering
• Must be able to build all tech packs and pass specs in a detailed, organized, and clear manner for factory proto sample making
