Control Systems Architect

Location : Dallas, TX

Overview

Our client is seeking a Controls Systems Architect to lead and define the hardware and software architecture for next-generation control platforms. This is a high-impact role for an experienced systems thinker who will shape the future of intelligent, flexible, and AI-enabled control systems.

This role is 100% onsite and direct hire. Client is unable to sponsor / transfer visas at this time. Candidates MUST be willing to work without any visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Key Responsibilities

System Architecture Leadership

  • Lead the development and standardization of control system architecture across multiple business units.
  • Define future system platforms aligned with customer needs, regulatory standards, and cost/time constraints.
  • Innovate architecture that is scalable, AI-enhanced, and flexible for future expansion.

Strategic Collaboration & Roadmap Planning

  • Partner with product management to align architectural decisions with product line and technology roadmaps.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis to determine optimal system features while leveraging existing and emerging technologies.
  • Ensure synchronization between technical development and business goals.

Product & Technology Development

  • Collaborate with engineering, advanced technology, software, hardware, mechanical, service, and manufacturing teams to design innovative, user-friendly control systems.
  • Participate in the development of both hardware and software system capabilities.
  • Focus on ease of use, installation, configuration, and long-term adaptability.

Research & Industry Involvement

  • Stay ahead of technology and market trends; identify customer needs and industry direction.
  • Engage in external technical committees and standards bodies to ensure industry compliance and influence.

Process & Documentation

  • Maintain and support system engineering and architectural artifacts.
  • Contribute to the improvement and implementation of new system engineering processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in the Controls or Embedded Electronics industry, with a focus on system engineering and architecture.
  • Expert-level knowledge in control systems design and development.
  • Proven track record in system and product development.
  • Strong grasp of system design techniques, precision planning tools, and architecture principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage complex technical planning efforts.
