Job Description :

The State of Michigan – DHHS is seeking a Conversational AI Engineer with expertise in Generative AI, NLP, cloud computing, and chatbot development . The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Dialogflow CX, Vertex AI, BigQuery, and Looker Studio , along with a strong understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, and AI model fine-tuning .

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop and optimize a Generative AI-powered virtual assistant for dynamic and context-aware responses.
  
• Leverage LLMs and fine-tuning techniques within Vertex AI for advanced conversational AI capabilities.
  
• Implement structured conversational experiences using Dialogflow CX Playbooks and Tools .
  
• Analyze chatbot performance using BigQuery and Looker Studio to improve response quality.
  
• Create guided conversational flows and apply prompt engineering strategies.
  
• Enhance AI reasoning with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques.
  
• Integrate Google Cloud Functions for backend connectivity and automation.
  
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align AI solutions with business objectives and compliance requirements.
  
• Monitor AI model performance and implement continual improvements based on user feedback.

Required Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, or a related field .
  
• Hands-on experience in AI-powered chatbot development using Dialogflow CX and Vertex AI . (5+ years)
  
• Strong knowledge of Generative AI, LLMs, NLP, and prompt engineering . (5+ years)
  
• Proficiency in Google Cloud Services (Vertex AI, BigQuery, Looker Studio, Cloud Functions). (5+ years)
  
• Strong analytical skills in AI performance monitoring and model accuracy enhancement . (5+ years)
  
• Ability to translate business needs into AI-driven solutions .

Preferred Qualifications :

• Knowledge of APIs, cloud security best practices, and AI ethics .
  
• Proficiency in Python or JavaScript for AI model integration and automation.
  
• Experience with RAG-based AI approaches to improve knowledge retrieval.
  
• Familiarity with Terraform for infrastructure deployment.
