Job Description

Huckberry is making its first-ever push into strategic wholesale, and we're seeking a foundational leader to build this critical channel from the ground up. Focusing on our three apparel House Brands, this scrappy and strategic Director will define the vision and strategy for both traditional wholesale and store-in-store opportunities, and then work to execute that strategy. This is a unique, hands-on role that will involve launching and scaling an entirely new business unit for Huckberry.

Responsibilities:

As the one Huckberry employee focused solely on wholesale initially, the Director of Wholesale will utilize their strong entrepreneurial spirit to drive business results and deliver profitable growth.

  • Wholesale Strategy & Business Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive wholesale business plan, including market research, target markets, product range, and pricing. Lead "store-in-store" discussions while ensuring authentic brand execution. Identify and mitigate risks for this new venture. 
  • Key Account Management: Identify, prospect, and build strong relationships with national and regional accounts, aligning with Huckberry's selective strategy. Negotiate favorable terms with partners and suppliers.
  • Operational Management: Work with key internal business partners across the org to stand up a successful wholesale operation. Key business partners include product (design and production), inventory planning, operations, marketing, distribution and fulfillment teams. Implement efficient inventory control and demand forecasting. Ensure timely deliveries.
  • Brand & Marketing Integration: Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent brand messaging and product presentation across wholesale channels. Provide marketing collateral, product knowledge, and staff training to partners.
  • Financial and Analytical Oversight: Full P&L ownership. Analyze pricing and margins for profitability. Establish and monitor KPIs for data-driven decisions.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in wholesale leadership within apparel/lifestyle, with proven success launching/scaling new divisions
  • Strong track record of building and managing national/regional accounts, with an ability to independently manage senior level relationships
  • Experience with "store-in-store" models highly preferred
  • Experience with diverse accounts (sporting goods vs department store)
  • Creative problem-solver, resourceful, willing to execute tasks directly
  • Articulate vision, influence stakeholders, lead and develop teams
  • Deep understanding of US market trends, consumer demands in retail/wholesale, especially outdoor/lifestyle apparel
  • Familiarity with sales tracking, inventory, Netsuite ERP, PLM, and DAM systems is a plus
  • Preference for Austin-based, but open to remote candidates who are able to frequently travel to Austin HQ
