Job Description

Redwood Electric is looking for a technically proficient and collaborative individual who will be responsible for supporting the design and implementation of electrical power and lighting systems. This role is open to all levels of experience—from entry-level electrical engineers to seasoned senior engineers—as we are looking to grow our team with a range of technical backgrounds and perspectives. This person will provide technical expertise throughout the design process and work closely with engineers, designers, project managers, and construction teams to deliver high-quality electrical solutions that meet industry codes and standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

● Develop and refine electrical system layouts, schematics, and specifications.

● Review and process equipment and system submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements.

● Prepare and modify drawings, ensuring accuracy and clarity in design documentation.

● Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, and engineering analysis software for system design and documentation.

● Conduct power system analysis, including short circuit, voltage drop, and arc flash studies.

● Perform load calculations, lighting level analysis, and energy efficiency assessments.

● Support equipment selection, panel schedules, and system coordination.

● Ensure all designs adhere to NEC, energy codes, and client-specific guidelines.

● Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical designs into overall project plans.

● Attend meetings with clients, architects, and contractors to resolve design issues and refine project scope.

● Conduct site visits to evaluate existing electrical conditions and support field installations.

● Contribute to the continuous improvement of our design processes.

● Provide engineering support during construction to ensure successful project execution.

Required Skills/Abilities:  

● Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including power distribution and lighting systems.

● Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and engineering analysis software.

● Familiarity with NEC and other relevant electrical codes and standards.

● Ability to analyze and interpret electrical specifications and technical documents.

● Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

● Actively contribute to a collaborative team environment, where your expertise and innovative ideas are highly valued.

● Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education and Experience:

● Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.

● Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical design or engineering within the construction industry.

● Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred, with encouragement to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

● Experience with commercial, high-rise residential, or data center projects is appreciated.

● LEED AP® certification is appreciated.

● Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
