We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to oversee our organization's safety programs and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective health and safety policies while promoting a culture of safety within the workplace. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
Responsibilities
Develop, lead and implement EHS policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local OSHA/EPA regulations and applicable company and regulatory requirements regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
Provide training development for employees on health and safety practices, including first aid, emergency response, and hazard recognition.
Prepare detailed reports on incidents, inspections, and compliance status; utilize report writing skills to communicate findings effectively.
Analyze root causes of incidents to prevent future occurrences; implement corrective actions as necessary.
Manage workers' compensation claims in accordance with workers' compensation law; collaborate with insurance providers as needed.
Collaborate with various departments to promote occupational health initiatives and ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to environmental health and safety.
Experience
Proven experience in an EHS management role or similar position within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA guidelines, workers' compensation processes, and occupational health standards.
Experience in training development and delivery related to health and safety topics.
Familiarity with report writing and documentation practices relevant to EHS compliance.
Ability to fabricate solutions for unique safety challenges as they arise.
Excellent analytical skills for conducting root cause analysis of incidents.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in occupational or environmental safety, safety engineering, or other relevant field or any bachelor’s degree and 10 years of EHS experience.
Minimum 5 years occupational health and safety experience in a manufacturing environment required.
CSP, ASP, or OHST certification preferred but not required.
Extensive knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) general
industry standards.
Knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) waste generator policies for the control and management of hazardous waste and labeling requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to conduct effective training utilizing various mediums
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong team building and leadership skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
