Floral Designer

Position Overview:

Blueprint Studios is looking for an experienced, suggestive floral designer to join our growing San Francisco team. The floral designer specializes in integrating specialty linens, furnishings, tabletop accessories and creative solutions to create trend-setting environments in corporate, social, and high-end non-profit event settings. We are a busy shop looking for people who excel in busy situations.

Key Responsibilities:

The Floral Designer needs to be knowledgeable about a wide range of flowers, foliage, and potted plants. They must know their names, seasonal availability, and how long they will stay fresh. Designers must also stay up to date on the current fashions and styles in floral design while at the same time understanding the traditions of using certain flowers for weddings, funerals, and other occasions. Style and scope must be reflective of the audience with a strong understanding of corporate event floral design.

● Conceptualize, plan, and execute floral design elements for mass-production with great attention to detail and style.

● Oversee event installations and strikes pertaining to floral and specialty designs and accessories including tabletop, linens, candles, and Styling items while maintaining excellent guest experience skills and highlighting creativity and unique talent.

● Confer regularly with in-house sales team and clients regarding budget and type of arrangements desired.

● Plan and execute according to client's requirements, utilizing knowledge of design and properties of materials, or select appropriate standard design offerings.

● Suggest and select flora and foliage for arrangements, working with numerous combinations to synthesize and develop new creations.

● Order and purchase flower and supplies from wholesalers and growers to meet appropriate budget and cost requirements.

● Design and lead mass production of contracted floral arrangements and floral staff with efficiency, creativity, and timeliness.

● Perform departmental administrative duties such as keeping financial records, purchase orders, spending reconciliations and labor cost control.

● Assist in creating floral staff schedules for designers, warehouse team,

installation, and removal teams.

● Maintain stock of all floral department inventory, report missing and damaged items and supplement new inventory when needed.

● Create and change in-house showroom displays, designs, and looks to customer meeting experience.

● Conduct classes or demonstrations, or train other workers to allow for a strong on-call labor crew based on business volume.

● Assist in pre-event sample viewings to highlight a suggested design package to potential and contracted clients.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

● High School Diploma or GED

● A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a floral environment

● Must be highly flexible, intuitive, creative, and organized to meet the pressure and demands of a volume driven floral design studio while maintaining the highest quality standards when possible.

● Must have a basic understanding basic accounting and standard business operation practices

● Basic computer skills, i.e., e-mail, data entry, etc.

● Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Office skills

● Capable of working safely and efficiently with a fast-paced environment

● Ability to maintain a neat, organized, and safe work environment

● Requires a valid California driver's license.

● Ability to safely lift, pack and move objects that weigh up to 50 lbs.

● Candidate must have excellent communication skills, have an upbeat and positive personality, and get along well with others.

● The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to heavy.

● The temperature will vary from hot to cold depending on the weather.

● The employee must be able to drive a 20 ft. box truck and floral van.
