Design System Engineer
We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented React Engineer specializing in creating accessible components to join our Design System team. Expertise in React, CSS and HTML is a must, with a strong foundation in building and testing reusable patterns within a component library, whilst using accessibility tooling to validate functionality. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of our design system packages, ensuring consistency, scalability, and efficiency across all our digital products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product designers, developers, and product managers, to help establish and evolve design patterns, guidelines, and documentation. Additionally you will support our community of engineers who use our products to build applications across the enterprise, providing documentation, prototypes and troubleshooting, whilst feeding into our backlog with bug fixes and feature requests.
Qualifications:
Necessary: 5+ years experience using React/JavaScript.
Desirable: 2+ years experience working with design systems, component libraries, or pattern libraries.
Responsibilities:
- Strong understanding of front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a necessity.
- Comprehensive understanding of accessible patterns and testing requirements within WCAG guidelines and specifications.
- Proficiency with design tokens and their implementation in design systems.
- Excellent visual design skills with a strong sense of typography, color, and layout.
- Ability to translate brand identity into scalable and reusable design system components.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality reusable elements of the design system.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
- Ability to act as a peer leader & mentor for other members of the engineering team.
