The Sr. FSQA Manager, reporting to the company CEO, will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of our products in multiple facilities.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for providing strategic leadership, guidance, and risk management for all food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance programs.
  • Responsible for proper compliance and accuracy in the development, revision, implementation, and management of all food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance programs, supporting programs, internal and third-party audits (SQF, DOD, Organic Certification, Customer), and documentation. This includes but is not limited to developing, revising, reviewing, implementing, and maintaining Food Safety/HACCP Plans, product specifications, Sanitation SSOPs, FSQA SOPs/Forms/Job Aids, company SOPs and related documentation.
  • Manage third party and in-house sanitation activities.
  • Provide expertise and serve as a subject matter expert for programs and activities related to food safety, microbiology, regulations, and quality programs.
  • Handles government inspections, product recalls, supplier approval program, customer complaints.
  • Lead, supervise, and coach FSQA team and direct-reporting personnel, ensuring continuing professional development, training, and overall employee well-being.
  • Maintain training and development systems for the FSQA team and company to be up to date with all regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Manage departmental budgets, track departmental expenditure, and ensure compliance with budgeting policies, working closely with the executive leadership team.
  • Act as the SQF practitioner/lead auditor for all facilities. Ensure maintenance and manage SQF annual re-certification programs.
  • Manage microbiological sampling, root cause analysis and corrective actions for the environmental monitoring program. Identify areas of microbial risk and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Ensure production team involvement with the regulations, updating compliances and Food Safety responsibilities.
  • Manage and update customer portals and customer requests for documentation. Ensure customer requests related to quality and food safety are completed appropriately and timely.
  • Address performance issues with QA personnel using HR guidelines.
  • Carry out root cause analysis and drive sustained improvement at the production level. Instill a culture of operational discipline, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Manage holds and product disposition.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data.
  • Implement/improve methods to inspect, test and evaluate products and production equipment.
  • Responsible for performing processing floor audits, analyzing and maintaining records of results, as well as communicating the reports to the business stakeholders.
  • Coordinate equipment commissioning & decommissioning activities.
  • Ensure the integrity and continued operations of the food safety system in the event of organizational or personnel changes within the company or associated facilities.
  • Perform QA monitoring record review and sign off.
  • Stay up to date with regulatory requirements, recalls, changes, and announcements impacting food safety and quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of food processing.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer usage (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • The ability to function effectively within a fast-paced, diverse and evolving corporate culture is necessary.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience developing and managing HACCP, Preventative Controls, GMP, SSOP, SQF, regulatory, and customer-driven quality and food safety requirements and programs.
  • Experience with SQF or equivalent GFSI system.
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing.

Experience:

6 years minimum experience in a Quality Assurance leadership function

Education/Training

B.S. in Food Science, Science or Technical Discipline

HACCP Certified

PCQI Training

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 10-25 pounds, identify and distinguish colors, and works in extreme cold some of the time.

Work Hour Requirement

Flexibility to work various schedules and weekends, as well as more than 40 hours per week as needed.
