Playground Productions is a family-first entertainment company focused on creating premium games, animation, and content that celebrates the spirit of play. From the nostalgic Backyard Sports franchise to original storytelling, we connect generations through joyful, cross-platform experiences from game consoles and streaming to retail shelves and live events.

Playground Productions is seeking a Head of Marketing executive to take our rapidly growing company to the next level. In this role, you would be the visionary leader shaping and executing our overall marketing strategies, driving consumer engagement and growth, and building brand awareness for a wide portfolio of entertainment, games, and branded content.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and execute the go-to-market strategy for the launch of Backyard Sports, franchise, inclusive of video games, animated content, merchandise and apparel, ensuring that our products effectively reach the target audience.

  • Lead the planning and implementation of integrated marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital, social, and traditional media.
  • Spearhead a cohesive marketing plan for Backyard Sports and Playground Productions' long-term objectives, maximizing marketing spend, conducting market research, and staying current on the latest trends and tactics.
  • Champion audience segmentation strategies that speak to both nostalgic millennial fans and today's kids and families.
  • Partner with game dev, content, and retail teams to create marketing that’s as joyful and surprising as the Backyard brand itself.
  • Collaborate on community-building campaigns, from streaming events and creator activations to retail pop-ups and pro and collegiate sports league promotions.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of marketing initiatives, making data-driven decisions to optimize results with conviction.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with external vendors, celebrity collaborators, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Oversee the marketing budget to ensure optimal allocation of resources and alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Define and implement brand standards, guidelines, and best practices that help to amplify the impact of Playground Productions and content.
  • Leverage extensive experience to provide strategic direction, cross-industry expertise, and mission-driven leadership, ensuring long-term success for a growing company.
  • Assist team in establishing and optimizing CAC, ROAS, Customer LTV, and other key marketing metrics.
  • Enhance Backyard Sports growth by optimizing channels such as Meta, X, YouTube, TikTok, and Reddit.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in marketing, with at least five years in a senior leadership role within a gaming brand or related industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience and proven track record of leading teams and translating vision into action that drives growth.
  • Proven skills in developing long-term strategy road maps for brands.
  • Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis, performance metrics, and ROI measurement.
  • An entrepreneurial and motivated self-starter who can balance multiple moving parts in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders.
  • Experience launching or scaling a franchise IP across games, animation, and consumer products.
  • Strong background in brand licensing, co-branded partnerships, and retail marketing a plus.
  • Familiarity with tools such as GA4, Looker, HubSpot, Sprout, or similar analytics/CRM platforms.
  • Understanding of influencer marketing, fan community management, and family/child-facing PR strategies.
  • High-level understanding of social media algorithms and trends.

We are currently hiring for this position in the Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles regions.

COMPENSATION RANGE AND BENEFITS

The compensation range for this role is $175,000 and $225,000 annually. Compensation is dependent on qualifications, experience, and other factors. The salary offered will align with the Company’s budgeted amount for the position.
