Job Description

The Lab Testing Service company in the Portland, OR is looking for an experienced HR Generalist. We are hoping to find someone who has a minimum of 3 experience in payroll using ADP software and benefit coordination. Also, you will need to have previous experience in creating employee training. You will work closely with the HR Administrator and be able to step in as back up when they are not in the office. You will directly report to HR Manager.

This position is an onsite position. You must be able to be in the office between 8:00 AM or 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

It is a temp to hired position, as we would like to evaluate your skills, work attendance, and performance before bringing you to the team as a permenant employee.

Responsibility for HR Generalist:

  • Review, edit, and report on weekly hours processing
  • Overall responsibility to maintain payroll master file by collecting and entering personal payroll data relating to each Team Member.
  • Administration of Team Member Group Benefits program including; medical and dental coverages and insurances such as Life, AD &D Critical Illness and Long Term Disability plans.
  • Administration of in-house paid Short Term Absence plan.
  • Facilitate the annual open enrollment process, conduct open enrollment meetings and coordinate the distribution and collection of documents as required.
  • Liaison between the insurance provider, company, and each department members.
  • Establish internal controls as required, and identify and recommend improvements to controls and systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of all earnings, deductions, statistics, etc. for each team member and preparation of reports on this data.
  • Create employee books and training course for employees.
  • Provide first line support for managers and employees to discuss employee relations matters including leaves, performance management, organizational change etc.
  • Coaching managers to resolve day to day issues with employees.
  • Research programs to deliver training and skills development to our managers and employees.
  • When required, develop and deliver people/policy/management training to our employees.
  • Other HR Administrative tasks as assigned by HR Manager.

Minimum Requirements for HR Generalist:

  • Bachelor Degree is must have.
  • 5+ years of local HR experience preferably as a generalist in a startup or corporate setting in a non-unionized environment.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Astute problem-solving and coaching skills
  • Proven success working in an HR department; thorough knowledge of HR best practices, procedures and policies.
  • Strong level of discernment and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Must have minimum 2 years payroll and benefits administration experience within the past 2 years.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with ADP Payroll.
