Job Description

Job Title:
Experienced Jeweler and Instructor

Company:
Drunken Smithy

Location:
Lebanon, PA

Job Type:
Full-Time (30–40 hours per week)

Pay:
$18 – $25 per hour, based on experience

About Us:
At Drunken Smithy, we forge experiences. Our team of blacksmiths, artisans, and makers create hand-forged blades, jewelry, and more — while teaching workshops where customers craft their own unique pieces. We also host axe throwing and special events, and our on-site Mead Hall serves the mead and cider we craft in-house — all in a one-of-a-kind atmosphere that blends old-world craftsmanship with modern fun.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced jeweler to join our team and lead the growth of our jewelry program. Jewelry will be your primary responsibility — from creating original pieces to designing and teaching hands-on workshops where guests craft their own copper, silver, or gold jewelry.

This role isn’t just about keeping the jewelry department running — it’s about expanding and developing it into something bigger. We’re looking for someone with vision and initiative who can create new workshop offerings, experiment with new techniques, and help build jewelry into a cornerstone of what we do at Drunken Smithy.

While jewelry is the focus, candidates will also be part of a collaborative team where everyone wears multiple hats. No blacksmithing or axe throwing experience is required, but opportunities exist to branch into those areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, create, and sell silver, copper, and gold jewelry.
  • Lead engaging workshops where customers craft their own jewelry pieces.
  • Develop and expand the jewelry program with new offerings, techniques, and experiences.
  • Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Provide excellent customer experience in both teaching and retail settings.
  • Collaborate with a creative, hands-on team in a dynamic workshop environment.
  • Train to host and supervise axe throwing sessions.
  • (Optional) Learn to assist with blacksmith instruction.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a jeweler (silversmith and/or goldsmith).
  • Strong knowledge of jewelry techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Comfortable teaching and working directly with customers in a hands-on setting.
  • Creative drive and leadership mindset to expand and grow the jewelry program.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a creative, fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with strong communication skills.
  • Availability to work weekends (most workshops and events occur Friday–Sunday).

Preferred but Not Required:

  • Experience teaching workshops or classes.
  • Background in blacksmithing or other traditional crafts.
  • Interest in historic trades and artisan skills.

Benefits & Perks:

  • $18–$25 per hour (based on experience).
  • Full-time schedule: 30–40 hours per week.
  • Creative freedom to shape and expand the jewelry department.
  • Opportunities to learn blacksmithing and other artisan trades.
  • Staff discounts on products and workshops.
  • Unique workplace atmosphere with festivals, live events, and a mead hall on site.

How to Apply:
Submit your resume, portfolio (if available), and a brief cover letter sharing your experience and vision for growing a jewelry program. If you are having problems submitting your application through Indeed, please email your materials to forge@drunkensmithy.com.
