Job Description

A prominent Electronics company in the Metro Detroit area is seeking a Lead Process Engineer to join their team. This is a Direct Hire position. This person will be developing and optimizing manufacturing processes, supporting new product introductions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This role will also focus on ensuring efficient, high-quality production through process development, equipment programming, and problem resolution.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement electronic manufacturing procedures and processes in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support new product introductions by collaborating with design engineers and customers to ensure manufacturability.
• Program and optimize equipment for SMT, selective soldering, wave soldering, conformal coating, and mechanical/box build assembly processes.
• Design and coordinate production tooling, fixtures, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Manage preventative and corrective maintenance programs for manufacturing equipment.
• Create and update operator process documentation, including training materials.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues, analyze defects, and implement corrective actions to improve yield and reduce scrap.
• Utilize data analysis to monitor production trends and drive process enhancements.
• Work closely with quality teams to ensure compliance with IPC, ISO, and other industry standards.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize workflow.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience in electronics manufacturing.
• 3+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing or process development.
• Strong understanding of SMT, selective soldering, wave soldering, and box build assembly processes.
• Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and bills of material.
• Experience with electronic process development, programming, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in data analysis, problem-solving, and process optimization.
• Working knowledge of regulatory and quality standards such as IPC, ISO, and IATF.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with production tooling design.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
