Job Description

Proper Hospitality is seeking an experienced Restaurant General Manager to join our team at Montauk Yacht Club, our 107-room luxury property with The Collective.

Spanning 35 acres on Montauk’s Star Island, Montauk Yacht Club offers waterfront views, a private beach, three pools, multiple dining options and over 200 wet slips that can accommodate boats from small day cruisers to 300-foot superyachts. Holding eight decades of East End history as an elite social club and thoughtfully reborn for the modern traveler, guests can expect classic East Coast architecture, well-appointed interiors and detail-driven amenities.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on Restaurant General Manager to lead our signature outlet, Ocean Club. This role is responsible for all facets of restaurant operations—from delivering exceptional guest service and curating elevated dining experiences, to managing financial performance, building a high-performing team and upholding brand standards. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, obsessed with quality and deeply experienced in luxury food & beverage environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of the restaurant, bar, and associated dining spaces, ensuring seamless guest experiences
  • Hire, train, and mentor a team of hospitality professionals committed to excellence in service and presentation
  • Partner with the Director of Culinary Operations to ensure alignment between front and back of house, consistent execution and menu innovation
  • Maintain rigorous service standards and SOPs that reflect Montauk Yacht Club's brand values and guest expectations
  • Drive top-line revenue and profitability through strategic pricing, upselling programs, special events and cost control
  • Analyze financial statements, forecast budgets and report on key performance metrics
  • Foster guest loyalty through personalized interactions, complaint resolution and by cultivating a sense of community within the restaurant
  • Collaborate with marketing and hotel teams to activate seasonal promotions, events, and media coverage
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and local liquor laws
  • Represent the outlet as an ambassador for Montauk Yacht Club's lifestyle, design, and culinary identity

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a high-end or luxury restaurant environment; hotel restaurant experience preferred
  • Proven success in managing service standards, team development and profitability
  • Strong understanding of food, wine, and cocktail trends, with the ability to train and inspire staff accordingly
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with POS and restaurant management systems (e.g., Micros, Avero, OpenTable)
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays

Company Overview
