Restaurant General Manager

Location/Onsite: San Mateo, CA

A Day in the Life of the General Manager

As the General Manager, you will be the driving force behind the daily operations of the restaurant. You’ll oversee everything from managing the staff and ensuring top-notch customer service to handling the financials and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Your leadership will play a crucial role in maintaining the company’s reputation for excellent food, service, and atmosphere.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage daily restaurant operations, ensuring efficient workflows
  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff, providing guidance and motivation to create a positive work environment
  • Develop and implement strategies to meet financial goals, manage budgets, and control costs
  • Monitor customer satisfaction, address complaints, and ensure high-quality service and food standards
  • Ensure the restaurant is in compliance with health and safety regulations, food handling procedures, and company policies
  • Design and implement marketing and promotional campaigns to drive customer traffic
  • Manage inventory levels, place orders, and reduce food and beverage waste
  • Oversee cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation of the restaurant
  • Work with the management team to create long-term strategic plans for growth

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within the restaurant or hospitality industry
  • Strong financial experience managing budgets, sales data, and cost control
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in food service
  • Experience with inventory management, staffing, and performance evaluations
  • Passion for delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards
  • Bonus if you have experience with marketing a restaurant to a community
  • Ability to work Monday-Thursday 12PM-8/9 PM and Friday-Sunday 12PM-11PM and time off as needed
