Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Investigate accidents immediately upon notification. Ensure the safety of the field and office staff. Meet with customers to communicate our safety culture to maximize customer satisfaction and safety. Engage with field leaders on safety intensive work tasks. Training new hires and promoting K2 safety culture.

HIGH PAYOFF ACTIVITIES

Assist Foreman & Tecs with Safety Specific Work Tasks

  • Assist in executing and organizing Method of Procedures (MOP’s), hot work permits, field lock out/Tag out policies and power disconnect/reconnect permit documents for energized equipment, shutdowns, and other similar work tasks.
  • Help to keep all the above document information updated and accurate throughout the process to completion.
  • Verify installations meet requirements for safety, specifications, and quality.
  • Audits of equipment and materials on job site visits for all shutdowns.
  • Specialized training for field employees i.e. equipment training, trench safety etc.
  • Thorough job site inspections on all assigned projects weekly with accurate documentation in site docs and Trello
  • Oversite of project safety rep if assigned.

Ensure Service Field, Tucson, and Office Safety

  • Stay apprised of written safety policies, state, and federal OSHA regulations.
  • Coach, train, and instruct all employees in safety while promoting positive K2 safety culture.
  • Conduct reviews of new team members still in their “orange” hard hats to include 90-day review in site docs and award white hat.
  • Weekly site walks of assigned projects.
  • Perform site/van inspections to all FS technicians weekly as assigned.
  • Monitor Tucson FS and new construction with site walks weekly as assigned.
  • Verify toolbox talks and pre-task plans on each site inspection, audit weekly, and report in Trello per visit.
  • Participate in monthly and/or quarterly Safety Committee meetings.
  • Participate in and lead safety topics during leadership meetings and FS meetings as assigned.
  • Participate in and lead safety topics during Annual safety conference.

Maximize Customer Satisfaction and Safety

  • Meet with General Contractors, site Superintendent(s) and other personnel to establish a presence and to communicate our positive K2 safety culture. 
  • Work with the general contractor to identify potential hazards on the jobsite to help mitigate issues before they become near misses or incidents.
  • Spend time getting to know the general contractors and superintendents to cultivate a good working relationship.
  • Promote safety culture throughout entire employee pool with the emphasis on company values.

Investigate Accidents Immediately Upon Notification

  • Assist in documenting investigation interviews with employees, injured parties, and witnesses.
  • Notify the Safety Director immediately of accidents and submit investigation paperwork within 24 hours.
  • Investigate and document near misses and develop correction/prevention plan.

OTHER TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Special projects as required.
  • Participate in our workforce development by creating and teaching classes.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for consumables.
  • Accurately checking in and out of safety related equipment.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Must have good command of the English language - verbal and written.
  • Must have good trade & NEC knowledge.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Ability to train, influence and motivate team members.
  • Ability to read blueprints and other technical materials.
  • Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 2 years of commercial construction safety experience
  • Commercial electrical experience preferred
  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship preferred
  • OSHA & EPA standards in relation to construction

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach over head – all for extended periods of time.
  • Must be willing to work both indoors and out at all times of the year.
  • Able to Climb ladders (all types) and work from scaffolds and lifts.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 51 pounds unassisted.
