Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purify high-quality recombinant cytosolic, secreted, membrane, and refolded proteins.
  • Validate proteins through quality control experiments such as HPLC, mass spectrometry, binding, and enzymatic assays.
  • Perform biophysical analysis of proteins and/or protein complexes using mass spectrometry and other analytical techniques.
  • Develop and optimize protein purification strategies and biophysical methods to support drug discovery programs.
  • Share experimental results in team meetings and advise on best practices for generating protein reagents used in biophysical characterization, structural biology, assay development, screening, hit identification, and immunization.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in biochemistry, chemistry, molecular & cellular biology, biophysics, or a related field with 2–4 years of experience; or BS/MS with 6–12 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in industry.
  • Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry instruments and their maintenance, along with other biophysical techniques.
  • Strong expertise using AKTA purification systems and a solid understanding of modern protein purification techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities, and a passion for continuous learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with the Waters BioAccord mass spectrometer or a similar platform.
  • Experience with biophysical techniques such as mass photometry, thermal shift assays, fluorescence spectroscopy, etc.
  • Understanding of upstream and downstream processes including molecular biology, cell culture, protein expression, structural biology, and assay development.
  • Familiarity with the drug discovery pipeline and how protein reagents contribute to various stages.
  • Ability to recognize critical path activities and prioritize resources to support project advancement.
