Job Summary and Qualifications
- The Senior Manager, Energy must have an extensive knowledge of energy markets, price risk management techniques and applicable energy deal structures, Energy Purchasing Agreements, suppliers and products in the Energy portfolio. The individual must possess excellent negotiating skills, be a highly detailed oriented self-starter who is able to work with guidance and minimal supervision, assume accountability for meeting business goals within deadlines, be able to identify contractual risks, and be proficient in mitigating business risks and identifying cost savings opportunities for member clients
What you will do in this role:
- Cradle to Grave Management of Contracts and/or create custom transaction agreements necessary to confirm accurate execution of price, hedging activities, and modifications of obligations.
- Experience and knowledge of Deregulated Energy Markets covering Electricity and Natural Gas.
- Experience and understanding of Energy Hedging Strategies around Futures Contracts and PPAs and similar.
- Quantitative analysis of all Energy Contract statistics for all procurement activities to executive leadership.
- Able to Analyze bids from retail energy suppliers, Knowledgeable about negotiating Decatherm and Kilowatt Hours or Energy Blocks.
- Familiarity with Contract Life cycle management system - Sparkplug
- Exposure to Energy Pricing software like DTM or Bloomberg
- Strong Data analysis and data manipulation skills needed for creating Dashboards and reports for senior leadership.

- Demonstrated proficiency of the energy contract portfolio in the deregulated markets for Electricity & Natural Gas:
- fundamental and technical market dynamics
- pricing comparisons between supplier offerings for various products
- pipeline and transmission networks, capacity markets and physical flow patterns
- federal and state regulatory issues which impact energy delivery and costs

Supplier Knowledge:
- Must use knowledge of energy suppliers to develop strategies, create leverage, mitigate risks, and anticipate direction of the energy market including:
- interpretation of Supplier SEC filings, annual reports, or analyst reports
- discussion of future resource and capacity availability with suppliers and customers
- investigation of new electricity and natural gas supplier entrants to energy market
- consultation with HealthTrust legal team and Energy contracting team on master purchasing agreements
Sourcing Process:
Demonstrate accountability for the energy sourcing process, including strategy development, bid preparation, request for proposal process, contract negotiations, and transmitting energy deal terms to facilitate the agreement execution process. Manage Energy RFP Process:
- Monitor energy markets for favorable contracting opportunities
- Develop client energy procurement plan and strategy
- Identify and qualify potential energy suppliers
- Manage financial/data analysis and support activities
- Manage energy RFP process
- Collaborate with financial analyst team to leverage available resources and processes
- Perform supplier negotiations
- Prepare recommendation and secure client/supplier acceptance
- Ensure appropriate contract development, execution, and filing
- Thorough documentation of deal data in applicable platforms including in software system for tracking, reporting, forecasting and to facilitate timely fee reconciliation
What qualifications you will need:
- Accredited College Bachelor's Degree required in engineering, business, accounting or finance. Advanced degree desirable
- 3 years of relevant work experience required
- 5-10 years of relevant work experience preferred.
