Job Overview

We’re seeking a hands-on Shop Manager to oversee daily operations, lead internal teams, and drive service excellence. This role is responsible for ensuring workflow efficiency, regulatory compliance, and high-quality customer service to support branch performance goals.

Responsibilities

• Engage directly with customers to assess service needs and prepare quotes.
• Assign workloads strategically to optimize productivity and support team development.
• Monitor the open order aging report and ensure timely completion and invoicing of all repair work.
• Manage scheduling and shop workflow to meet deadlines and performance targets.
• Ensure all assigned work is performed by qualified personnel.
• Interpret and enforce DOT, ASME, and National Board regulations as required.
• Develop and maintain strong product knowledge across the service team.
• Evaluate employee skillsets and recommend training to address gaps or growth opportunities.
• Review and submit requisitions for tooling or equipment as necessary.
• Maintain appropriate staffing levels in alignment with facility needs.
• Deliver daily performance reports and complete additional duties as assigned by management.
• Support hiring efforts by advising and participating in the recruitment process for department staff.
• Conduct annual performance evaluations and as needed throughout the year.
• Enforce company policies and procedures consistently across the team.

Requirements

• Strong oral and written communication skills, with a professional and customer-focused approach.
• Highly organized and analytical, with proficiency in computers and relevant software.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a solid understanding of service operations.
• Proven problem-solving and time management abilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Committed to ethical behavior in all aspects of the role.
• Preferred: 5 years of experience in parts, fleet, or service/repair operations.
• Detail-oriented, especially when overseeing inspections and completing required documentation.
