Job Description

The Senior Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing both international and domestic freight shipments. This role serves as a key liaison among internal teams, freight agents, and external partners to ensure seamless logistics operations. Responsibilities include planning and executing logistics processes, managing shipment bookings, maintaining accurate records and documentation, identifying risks and opportunities, and ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery of goods. This is an onsite position based at the organization's corporate office in St Joseph.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide cost estimates for domestic and international shipments using appropriate carriers and transport modes (Air, Sea, Rail, and Ocean).
  • Track daily container and air freight shipments and update internal systems accordingly.
  • Resolve shipment issues, assess supply chain risks, and communicate effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Manage claims for over-shipped, mis-shipped, short-shipped, or damaged freight.
  • Report monthly on claims by category and track resolution progress.
  • Prepare documentation for USMCA/Country of Origin.
  • Support contract reviews, negotiations, and RFP processes.
  • Provide data analysis and support for monthly reporting and leadership reviews.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong understanding of freight forwarding concepts (e.g., Incoterms, bills of lading, terms of sale).
  • Experience with import/export processes, including U.S. customs regulations, customer entry, bonds, and ACE portal usage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning, and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service mindset.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or related supply chain roles.
