Job Description

The Dean of Academics is a key leader within the institution, responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight of academic programs, faculty development, and educational quality. This role requires a dynamic, results-oriented individual with the ability to manage cross-functional teams, oversee budgeting processes, invest in innovative marketing strategies for program visibility, and foster a culture of academic excellence and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Leadership

  • Lead the development, assessment, and continuous improvement of academic programs in alignment with institutional goals and accreditation standards.
  • Champion innovative teaching and learning practices, including online and hybrid education initiatives.
  • Ensure academic policies and curriculum meet the needs of a diverse student population and industry trends.

Team Management

  • Supervise academic department chairs, faculty, instructional designers, and administrative staff.
  • Cultivate a high-performing academic team through coaching, professional development, and performance management.
  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative environment that supports faculty engagement and student success.

Strategic Budgeting & Resource Management

  • Develop and manage the academic division’s budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with institutional priorities.
  • Allocate resources strategically to support program development, faculty hiring, and student support services.
  • Monitor financial performance, prepare budget forecasts, and implement cost-effective initiatives.

Marketing Investment & Program Growth

  • Collaborate with marketing and enrollment teams to enhance the visibility and reputation of academic programs.
  • Identify high-demand disciplines and work cross-functionally to design and market new programs.
  • Evaluate ROI of academic marketing campaigns and refine strategies based on data-driven insights.

Interdepartmental Collaboration

  • Work closely with institutional leadership (e.g., Admissions, Student Affairs, Institutional Research) to align academic offerings with enrollment goals and student needs.
  • Participate in strategic planning initiatives and institutional effectiveness activities.
  • Serve as a key member of the leadership team and represent the academic division in board meetings, accreditation reviews, and public forums.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, including academic leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in team management, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • Strong understanding of academic marketing strategies and enrollment dynamics.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience in online education or continuing education environments.
  • Familiarity with accreditation processes and institutional effectiveness models.
  • Evidence of successful interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in curriculum development.
