Designer – Contract (Onsite | Minneapolis, MN)

Location: Onsite in Minneapolis, MN 55413

Duration: Contract through January 31, 2026 (potential to extend)

We’re seeking a Designer to support the creation of experiential, scenic, and retail fixture assets from concept through execution. This role requires hands-on and digital design expertise, including sketching, 2D/3D CAD modeling, and understanding of fabrication techniques and materials. The Designer will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate creative concepts into buildable plans, ensuring quality, accuracy, and functionality throughout the process. Candidates should be comfortable navigating any stage of design development and production.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute designs for experiential, scenic, and retail fixture projects
• Create design documentation using CAD/CAM tools; sketch and model as needed
• Evaluate materials, troubleshoot issues, and adapt designs based on changing requirements
• Collaborate with fabrication teams and provide on-site/set support when necessary
• Work under tight deadlines and support one-off or prototype builds

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in design or equivalent technical/engineering experience
• 10+ years of experience in hands-on and digital design roles
• Proficiency in CAD and CAM (Autodesk Fusion 360 preferred)
• Strong understanding of fabrication techniques, including CNC, laser, or plasma cutting
• Familiarity with programmable electronics (Arduino, Raspberry Pi) for functional builds
• Experience working in fast-paced environments with one-of-a-kind or prototype requests
• Willingness to travel occasionally and work outside standard hours when needed

Preferred Experience

• Membership in design/engineering organizations (IDSA, ASME, IEEE)
• Experience facilitating design thinking, ideation, or Kaizen workshops
• Knowledge of ADA guidelines and relevant building codes
