Job Description

Interior Designer

Experience in high-end residential interior design taking at least two projects to completion. Full-time and freelance considered.

Magdalena Keck Inc. is a New York City-based boutique studio focusing on interior design, architecture, and creative direction. Founded in 2003, the firm has gained a reputation for pied-à-terre and vacation dwellings designed for an international clientele. Current work includes private residences in the Hamptons, Aspen and Hawaii. The studio’s approach is characterized by the search of balanced resonance between inhabitants, space, and objects to create new relevant contexts. Inspiration is drawn from history, art, and travel. Internationally published in Architectural Digest, Wall Street Journal, Casa Vogue, Interior Design, New York Magazine and Dezeen, as well as design books.

Responsibilities

Design and Planning

  • Spatial planning in 2D and 3D
  • Research and selection of interior and exterior materials, finishes, fixtures, lighting, and hardware
  • Design development, documentation, and presentation of living spaces kitchen, bathrooms, and wellness areas
  • Design development of custom millwork: closets, various cabinetry, and doors
  • Development of lighting plans and selection of lighting fixtures
  • Functional knowledge of high-end contemporary and vintage furnishings as well as accessories

Construction Documentation

  • Development of working drawings
  • Coordination of project documentation with consultants

Construction Administration

  • Field observation and surveying
  • Participation in design team meetings and preparation of meeting minutes
  • Project documents coordination: respond to RFI’s, review shop drawings and submittals

Project Coordination

  • Liaison with consultants: architect of record, MEP, structural,civil engineers and landscape designers, contractors, and vendors

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or equivalent
  • Ability to work within an established project concept taking it through SD, DD, CD and CA phases
  • Ability to present design and technical ideas to colleagues, consultants, and clients
  • Excellent spoken and written English. Excellent communication and organization. Polished appearance
  • Availability to travel and valid US driver’s license
  • US work authorization
  • Software: AutoCAD, SketchUp - expert level

Revit, InDesign, Photoshop - proficient level

  • Experience working with consultants, contractors, and vendors

Compensation
