Job Description

GridironIT is on the lookout for a skilled UI/UX Content Strategist to help shape the future of federal digital experiences. If you're passionate about crafting intuitive, user-centered content and have a knack for turning complex information into clear, actionable guidance, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact.

In this role, you’ll take the lead in managing and governing structured content on a Drupal-based platform, ensuring seamless usability and a cohesive digital experience. You’ll work side by side with a cross-functional team, driving content operations, site enhancements, and releases. Every decision will be guided by data and designed with the user in mind.

We're looking for someone who pairs sharp content instincts with a deep understanding of UX writing and digital governance. Exceptional grammar and writing skills are a must, as is the ability to collaborate with stakeholders to create accessible, user-friendly solutions for a high-visibility public-facing site.

The successful candidate will (1) define simple, straightforward experiences by leveraging expertise in writing and user experience design, (2) write, edit, test, and improve content to enhance product usability, (3) create and refine experience flows, in-product messaging, interface language, navigation, alerts, and other key product touchpoints, and (4) perform user research and apply insights to craft language that resonates with users and drives results.

  • Responsibilities Lead structured content strategy initiatives focused on usability, accessibility, and performance.
  • Manage Drupal content operations, including editing, governance, and content structuring to ensure consistency and seamless implementation.
  • Coordinate ongoing site content updates and releases, supporting the deployment of new features and ensuring content readiness.
  • Oversee editorial workflows and approval processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with established guidelines.
  • Support the development and maintenance of documentation, governance frameworks, and instructional materials for content administrators.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer by equipping internal teams with style guide resources and best practices to sustain content quality.
  • Maintain and manage content inventory, audit logs, version tracking, and structured content updates.
  • Analyze user feedback (e.g., via Medallia) and performance metrics to inform content decisions and recommend continuous improvements.
  • Administer Search.gov and manage SEO metadata to enhance content discoverability and search engine performance.
  • Provide strategic input and recommendations to enhance Drupal CMS functionality—such as content templates, reusable components, and editorial tools.
  • Conduct content audits and usability reviews to optimize messaging, layout, and overall user experience.
  • Use design collaboration tools like Figma to align content with interface elements and design flows.
  • Translate user needs and research into actionable content strategies that improve engagement and user outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with design, development, testing, and business teams to deliver cohesive, user-centered digital solutions.

  • Qualifications U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related field (or 7-10 years of relevant experience).
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with demonstrated ability to craft clear, concise, plain language.
  • 5 years of experience with Drupal (version 10), Figma, and digital content tools.
  • Familiarity with user-centered design, content flows, and wireframing.
  • Portfolio to demonstrate success in UX content design and writing for digital products.
  • Fluent Spanish preferred but not required.

  • Additional Qualifications Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with Federal government digital projects (preferred).
  • Organized and analytical, with excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Highly collaborative and receptive to feedback and iterative improvement.

  • Important Note: Employment is contingent upon candidate successfully obtaining a Public Trust.
  • The candidate must be willing to travel to the Washington Metropolitan area at their own expense to complete onboarding and offboarding. Two trips may be required to obtain credentials and equipment.
  • This is a remote position.

Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is required.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $60,000 - $100,000 (Compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, skills, education, certifications, seniority, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.)

Benefits: Gridiron offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), disability & ADD insurance, life and pet insurance to eligible employees. Full-time and part-time employees working at least 30 hours per week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in Gridiron’s benefits programs.
