POSITION PURPOSE

At MDI, our greatest asset is our Mentor Team—seasoned, wise leaders who walk alongside ministry leaders to help them thrive. The Director of Mentoring is the heartbeat of that team. In this role, you’ll champion our mentors, ensure they have what they need to succeed, and guide the growth of our network so we can serve more leaders with excellence.

This position is pivotal to MDI’s mission and directly shapes the quality and reach of our mentoring work. The DM reports to the CEO.

Job Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead & Support Our Mentoring Program

• Be the primary champion for our Mentor Team—covering them in prayer, checking in regularly, and making sure they have the skills, spiritual focus, tools, workshops, and resources they need. Offer expertise and guidance in Integrated Mentoring & Consulting (IMC), crisis response, and complex problem-solving.
• Match Leaders & Mentors––oversee our recruitment, intake and pairing process, ensuring adequate mentor staffing to cover client demand, and ensuring leaders are matched to mentors whose skills, experience, and passions fit their needs. Make sure every leader we serve experiences MDI’s DNA—Spirit Led and Leader First. Gather feedback from leader checkins and adjust as needed to ensure we’re delivering with excellence.
• Organize effective mentor onboarding with a feedback process to ensure continual improvement in the onboarding process. Oversee all mentor training activities/actions: ensuring proper training needs analysis, creating content and programs, leading ongoing training workshops with speakers and content, ensuring the delivery of effective training, and ongoing feedback process for continuous improvement and effectiveness.

Grow Our Network

• Actively build relationships to recruit top-tier mentors who share our vision.
• Develop connections with churches and strategic partners who can refer new leaders, mentors, and funding to MDI.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree

• 20 years of professional experience is preferred

• Experience leading volunteer teams is preferred

• Solid understanding of volunteer management, ministry industry specifics and business strategies

• Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills

• Effective management, communications and interpersonal skills

• Proficient in basic office software. Project management software experience is a plus
